I'm here

I never thought I'd get here. We left at midnight, and I got to the hostel at 2 p.m. Of course when I went to my bed someone was in it, which is usually a good thing but in this case required security. I had nothing planned for today so I'm off to explore.
The most exciting thing that happened was when we stopped for a toll at 5 a.m. Chris rolled down the window and the window fell inside the door. When we pulled over to try and fix the window, it broke into 100,000 pieces and then we had to drive for an hour and a half with no window. It's very cold at 5 am, luckily I had the suitcases I was wedged between for warmth.
Here's the window:

We stopped and put a plastic bag on it. Then the driver couldn't see to change lanes so I went to sleep, figuring the best thing to do is go limp on impact.
Here's all of us at 7 a.m.:

I'm turning Japenese

I think I'm turning Conservative, I really think so.
Well, the Liberals never wrote me back so I checked out the Conservative candidate for my riding. Her website is very sparse, with like no issues. I think maybe with politics you have to pick and choose, and perhaps everyone will piss you off a little until they have the Adam Dunn party.
The Conservatives are promising to remove the health care premium and right now that's my number one issue. They want environmental change. The negative is they want violent crime tackled head on and I think it's too easy to promise more police.
I have written her and asked her about gay rights, I refuse to believe the opinion that the Conservatives are hiding their true selves until they get a majority, twirling their mustaches in anticipation. I don't think Quebec, Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces would allow a family values campaign to sweep the country.
She supports lower taxes, environmental change and fiscal responsibility, and that sounds good to me.
I went to the baseball game tonight, and for the last game of the season it was a hum dinger. The Jays came back in the 8th inning to win the game, yahoo!
Tomorrow I will be packing and exercising.
Here's a picture I took of A.J. Burnett to honour his pitching performance tonight:

Bi Bash/Aids Walk

If the religious right is correct and I am going to Hell, every night will be the Bi Bash.
It was death. I got there with my mom and friends at 8, the place was full, we were the last people allowed in it was so full. I couldn't believe it, we were standing in the hallway and it was hotter than Hell.
The show opened with a woman singing 3 songs about her vagina and playing a guitar. Then there was a spoken word segment where a 300 lb. bull dyke talked for 20 minutes about being whipped and waiting for a bus. Then a trans person (what sex to what I have no idea) got up and lip synced to a Bing Crosby song while caressing members of the audience. This person was about 50 with fire red hair and the looks of a bridge troll. No one wanted to be groped by it. Luckily I was in the hallway.
The high point of the night was the stripping nun:

She had the body of a 10 year crack whore but she ended up in pasties and danced to Any Winehouse "You know I'm no good" so it was decent.
Then there was "Gothercize" where this guy:

came out and talked for 20 minutes about the problems of being goth while taking sips of his sherry and pretending to smoke a clove cigarette. Seriously.
Finally (for me) they announced some guy was going to read from a Guide to Being Bisexual but something happened on the way to the podium and a woman came out. At least I think it was a woman. I'm not sure if it even knew for sure. When he got to the part where he was reading out, alphabetically, the top 50 movies every bisexual should see I was out the door.
They are re-doing the Steers and Queers event on October 11, 2007 and I HIGHLY suggest everyone go to that. No odes to my vagina, just dancing and stripping and drag and fun.
Today I went to the AIDS walk with my mom. It was fun except they ran out of t-shirts. They give t-shirts to anyone who raised over $100, we raised over $650, no t-shirt. That sucked.
The walk was supposed to be shortened but it took over an hour and at the end I felt like I was dead so not so much shorter. The high-point was the warm up before the walk with mayor David Miller in a suit doing the disco boogie on the stage. The guys who led the warm up were from Eclipse Fitness and were awesome. I'm gonna check out their gym and see if I can get in one of their classes, I think it would be fun.
After the walk we went for lunch at Fran's. Just before they brought me my soup I saw a cockroach crawl across the seat and instantly lost my appetite. Then on the bill they charged my mom for a bagel and cream cheese when she had a plain bagel. The waitress said it was the same price either way, I said $3.00 is a lot for a plain bagel, she said the wasn't Tim Hortons, I decided never to return.
So the best part of the weekend was the walk today and yesterday we spent the day shopping and having lunch at the Lettuce Eatery. That was fun too. I don't want to go to work tomorrow, anyone wanna go for me?
Oh and the Liberals came by while I was out today, I emailed them this:
I am now 28 and have voted for the NDP every election since
I turned 18. I will not be voting for them this election
and I am considering voting Liberal for the first time.
I am facing a roadblock that I need your help with. After
promising no new taxes in the last election, last year alone
I paid $900 in health care premium, that's about 4% of my
take home pay, the largest tax increase in Ontario history.
I need to know how you can justify this, what has this money
done that was not being done before and why this step was
absolutely necessary. Because that money to me is necessary
and I can't get over losing it. Thanks.

Poster thing

John Barrowman is doing a Christmas pantomime thing and there's a contest, if you buy a poster and then take a picture of it in some unusual or funny location you can win a signed copy of the poster. So I need advice, where can I stick it?
Hotmail changed today, making their new "Windows Live" service mandatory. It no longer works with Outlook Express which I have been using for 8 years so that's very convenient. Plus it's all red and scary.
December Boys, the new Daniel Radcliffe movie is not playing in this city for some reason so I wasn't able to go see that. I did manage to clean up my apartment. It's like THE advantage of living in a small place, I can clean the whole thing in a couple hours, I love it.
Mixed results on the sugar intake today. I had chili for lunch and then last night I dream of La Rocca carrot cake and at 3 pm it flew into my mouth, I tried to stop it. Tomorrow my mom is here, NO PICTURES PLEASE she requested, so this should be fun, blog-wise.
Ciao.

Trials and Tribulations

As promised before, more pictures of me fulfilling my quest.

Me in Atlanta at Turner Field, 2005.

Me at Skydome, I'm guessing 2005.
It was an okay day. I watched the movie Fracture last night, mainly to see Ryan Gosling. The movie was ok but sometimes you want the villain to win. Ryan's new movie Lars and the Real Girl looks AMAZING! Click the link, watch the trailer.
I went to the doctor this morning, he said I have high blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. I have to cut some things out of my diet, like products with sugar. Yipee. So I went all day without sugar, I went to a salad restaurant for lunch, then about 3 pm a Reese cup jumped into my mouth. I did try to stop it.
My friend said something about how I have to be the Master baiter in the tackle shop of life. (Edit: He actually said "The upside is that instead of some shadowy malady that you have no control over, all of these things can be affected by your own actions. Yay! You're the author of your own fate!" which is the same thing.)
I saw on the show Flipping Out where the guy hired a pet psychic. I think I need one for my cat. Maybe an exorcist. I was parking my bike outside tonight, 3 floors down and my cat heard me blow my nose and started crying out the window into the courtyard. I'll be evicted in about 2 days I'm guessing.

A provincial election is coming up, and who do I want to vote for? Let's start with the Liberals. After promising NO TAX HIKES during the election, I paid $900 in new health care tax last year alone. That's about 2% of my salary, the largest single tax increase in Ontario history. So not them. I think longer waiting times for surgery is a better option.
The Conservatives, I'm just not a conservative person. It's not the Toronto thing to vote for, it's not the gay thing to vote for.
Then there's the NDP who I've voted for every single election since I turned 18. They sent me 5,000 emails for money, even after I called and emailed them to stop. The seem to always be talking about those left behind. About the travesty of 30 kids in a classroom, learning in a portable. I was in a portable with 29 other kids. I'm still here. They talk about $5 a day daycare. That would be great for about 1% of the population. I think flat tax or flat payments are not fair. Plus there's no doubt in my mind the NDP would have done the same raise tax thing the Liberals did.
I'm either voting for the Green Party or not voting, I haven't made up my mind.

I'm either going to clean tomorrow or go see the December Boys. Saturday my mom is here and the Bi Bash, Sunday AIDS walk, Monday baseball, Tuesday election training, Wednesday baseball, Thursday I go to New York.

Celebrity Sightings Day with Crazy Cat

My cat is bananas. NUTS! She saw a spider 30 minutes ago and has been crying, looking around for it ever since. I am going to pull out all her hair.
Also I cannot log into facebook, at all. I'll try again from work. Sheesh, life is tough.
Well, despite feeling like crap today, I managed to do everything I wanted. I went to the Film Fest and waited for my friend Chris, who showed up for 5 minutes, took off for an hour to buy the Moulin Rouge DVD, then came back for 5 minutes and had Ewan McGregor sign it, then took off again. Impatience!

Then Colin Farrell showed up, looking a little less like a lesbian truck driver, but not great.

Then another short break before Woody Allen showed up with Soon Yi.

What was funny about this is that everyone seemed to think this 72 year old man was going to walk by and sign autographs. He could barely walk. This one guy held out his signature book for 20 minutes, no Woody visible, that didn't seem to stop him.
Then I went off with thatstheheavy for dinner, Swiss Chalet for the second time today. They put in a location near my house, I'm done for. I was quite full and made my way over to the Paramount to see Paranoid Park, the new film from Gus Van Sant. It was terrible. Here's the star, Gabe Nevins:

Afterwards there was a Q and A with the director:

but no one asked him the real questions. Why does this movie suck so much? How do you get away with falling in love with a 16 year old boy and making a movie about it? Can I sign up for that too? What does a 55 year old gay man have in common with a bunch of skateboarders?
It was funny because on the walk to the subway I was talking with my friend and some more jailbait walked by holding a copy of Gus Van Sant's Elephant. They must have been at the same show. So we laughed, talking about where Gus signed his room number, etc.
It's not the best shot but you can see him here on the right, sitting beside the lady with the pins who goes to every baseball game. Small world!

Beach Bum

So even though it's a Saturday I bothered to get out of bed. I met my friend Jay at his house. He's moving to Ottawa at the end of the month. All my gays friends die, so one moving away is I guess better? I'm down to one, and none that live in the 416 area code. I need to do something.
So we went to the Beaches. First we stopped off at Wendy's for a chili I dropped all over the floor and then the boardwalk. I bought some clothes at my favourite store, Ends. It turns out they have a location on Avenue Road, who knew? Then off to my favourite bakery/deli, Bonjour Brioche.
I of course forgot my camera.
Then off to Buddies In Bad Times theatre to pick up my season subscription. Their flyer had 10 shows, 3 with nudity and sexual themes. Guess which 3 I picked? The first show is Sept 27, the day after I get back from New York, then nothing until April 2008.
I need some pictures. I started a new album on Facebook, my in every major-league ballpark in America. Here's 2 pictures from that album:

Me in Tampa Bay.

Me in Detroit.
I need to find another picture of me in Toronto, as the only one I have has my mom in it and she requested I tell people I'm an orphan for blogging purposes. The Chicago ones are already on here, and I'll scan Atlanta on Monday.
